U.K. industrial output increased by 0.2% in August, compared with July, as there were rises in three of the four main sectors, the Office for National Statistics reported.
Manufacturing, energy supply and water supply and waste management rose 0.4% each, while a decline in oil and gas extraction led to a drop of 2.0% in monthly contribution from the fourth sector, mining and quarrying.
Industrial production advanced by 1.6% year over year, with the largest upward contribution from manufacturing, which rose 2.8%.
In the three months to August, the production index was estimated to have risen by 0.9%, following an increase of 0.4% in the three months to July.
In a separate data set, the statistical agency reported that construction output increased by 0.6% month over month in August.
The Quarterly National Accounts publication for April to June 2017 was released Sept. 29, 2017, which included improvements to construction statistics. The improvements have led to revisions back to January 2010.
