Brazil's labor court has given Banco Bradesco SA a fine of more than 2.2 million Brazilian reais for alleged discriminatory acts and targeting of unionized employees, according to a report by InfoMoney.
The fine follows an investigation by prosecutors in the Northeastern state of Paraíba, which heard testimonies from Bradesco employees who claim they lost benefits and missed promotions because of their participation in worker's unions.
When contacted by the publication, the bank said the matter is under judgement and had no comment.
As of Feb. 6, US$1 was equivalent to 3.26 Brazilian reais.
