T-Mobile launches $125 smartphone

T-Mobile US Inc. launched its own branded smartphone, T-Mobile REVVL, which is available for sale starting Aug. 10.

The phone is available for monthly installments of $5 via JUMP! On Demand, or an upfront payment of $125. The phone has a 5.5 inch HD screen, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3,000 mAh battery, and a fingerprint sensor. It runs on Google Inc.'s Android Nougat operating system.

The company also rolled out a new program, Smartpicks, to offer "affordable" phones to its customers. Along with the T-Mobile REVVL, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s Galaxy J3 Prime, LG Electronics Inc.'s K20 Plus and Aristo, as well as ZTE ZMAX Pro are available for sale to customers on an 18-month lease.
