Barclays utilities analyst departs for UBS post

Barclays Capital Inc. power and utilities analyst Daniel Ford is said to have accepted a role with UBS Securities LLC, where he will head up the power and utilities equity research desk.

Ford will reinstate UBS' coverage of electric utilities in the coming months, according to a source familiar with the matter, though an official start date was not disclosed. The move by Ford follows the departure of Julien Dumoulin-Smith, who left UBS in June to lead power and utilities equity research at Bank Of America Merrill Lynch.

At Barclays, Ford covered a variety of electric and gas utilities, as well as independent power producers, including American Electric Power Co. Inc., Dominion Energy Inc., Duke Energy Corp., Exelon Corp., NextEra Energy Inc., NRG Energy Inc. and Pacific Gas and Electric Co., among others, according to S&P Capital IQ.

Barclays declined to comment on the matter. Ford was not immediately available for comment.
