Regulators should review whether to publish data aboutsupervisory decisions on Pillar 2 capital requirements, as part of efforts toimprove capital transparency for investors, European Banking Authority ChairmanAndrea Enria said.
Enria said data on banks' regulatory capital requirementscould be recorded in a "central repository" of EU banks' data on theEBA website, Reuters reported May 4. This would help investors make betterdecisions, for instance when lenders need to issue debt which could later bebailed in or written down, according to Enria.
"If market participants are unable to compare andcontrast the situation of banks vis-a-vis a specific risk, they are naturallyinclined to think the worst of each and every bank,"
