6 Malaysia Building Society directors resign

Malaysia Building Society Bhd. said six nonexecutive directors stepped down from its board.

The company said Johar bin Che Mat, Alina Binti Raja Muhd Alias, Aw Hong Boo and Jasmy bin Ismail resigned as independent nonexecutive directors, while Syed Zaid bin Syed Jaffar Albar and Sazaliza Bin Zainuddin resigned as nonindependent nonexecutive directors.

Jasmy bin Ismail and Syed Zaid bin Syed Jaffar Albar resigned due to other business commitments, while the other resignations are part of the company's restructuring under the banking platform.

The company noted that upon completion of Malaysia Building Society's planned acquisition of Asian Finance Bank Bhd., Alina Binti Raja Muhd Alias and Aw Hong Boo will be appointed as independent nonexecutive directors of the acquired bank. Johar bin Che Mat has already been appointed independent nonexecutive director of Asian Finance Bank.

In addition, Sazaliza Bin Zainuddin will be named nonindependent nonexecutive director of Asian Finance Bank upon completion of the deal.
