West Wits Mining Ltd.'s JORC 2012-compliant resource estimate at its 66%-owned Witwatersrand Basin project in South Africa increased to 3.3 million ounces from 1.4 million ounces.

The resource is contained in 29.6 million tonnes of ore at a grade of 3.4 g/t of gold, at a 2 g/t cutoff.

According to a Dec. 18 release, 21.8 million tonnes at 3.51 g/t of gold for 2.5 million ounces are included in the measured and indicated category, while 7.8 million tonnes at 3.25 g/t of gold for 811,000 ounces are included in the inferred category.

The upgrade was realized on the back of new resource at the Kimberley Reef East deposit of 16.8 million tonnes at 3.5 g/t of gold for 1.9 million ounces.
