PLDT, NTT Communications launch new mobile data service in Japan

-based telecom and digital services providerPhilippine Long DistanceTelephone Co. teamed up with Japanese telco to bringtheir new mobile data service called SMART World to approximately 240,000Filipinos in Japan, thecompany said May 1.

For amonthly fee, SMART World subscribers will get a mobile data SIM and a pocketWiFi, along with the chosen data allocations and monthly freebies that includefree calls and text messages to the Philippines and free remittance transactionsfor up to ¥100,000, as well as free calls toselect countries abroad.

There arefour monthly base plans to choose from, with prices starting at ¥4,200, tax excluded.

As of May 2, US$1 is equivalent to ¥106.51.
