Vonage Holdings Corp. made new investments in the Asia-Pacific region for cloud communication services and named Sunny Rao as vice president and general manager for the Asia-Pacific region.

At his new post, Rao will lead Vonage's global expansion strategy in all of the Asia-Pacific region, including expanding in existing markets and opening new offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen in China. Rao previously was vice president for India and the Middle East at Vidyo Inc.

The first of the three new offices in China will be located in SSC Tower, Nanshan District in Shenzhen, with Business Development Director Chong (David) Deng leading it. Deng previously led the South and West China sales team for Akamai Technologies, according to an Aug. 1 press release.
