OCC: Q2 mortgages see better performance YOY

The OCC onSept. 30 reported that first-lien mortgage performance was better during thesecond quarter compared to the same period a year ago, with 94.7% of mortgagesin its quarterly report on mortgages considered current and performing.

The year-agofigure stood at 93.8%.

Foreclosureactivity also took a 31.1% dip year over year and was 17.3% less than in thefirst quarter, with reporting servicers initiating 48,732 new foreclosuresduring the second quarter. Other loss-mitigation actions also saw a decline,with 34,604 mortgage modifications implemented during the second quarter.

Homeforfeiture actions during the second quarter saw a decline as well, going down29.0% year over year to 33,344.
