Atmos Energy closes $800M public offering of senior notes

Atmos Energy Corp. closed the previously announced public offering of $800 million of senior notes, which are due 2029 and 2049.

The company's offering consists of $300 million of 2.625% senior notes, due Sept. 15, 2029, and $500 million of 3.375% senior notes, due Sept. 15, 2049, according to an Oct. 2 Form 8-K filing. Interest on both the 2029 and 2049 notes is payable every March 15 and Sept. 15 starting on March 15, 2020. Atmos received proceeds of approximately $792 million, after related discounts and expenses.

The company may redeem part or all of the notes anytime, at a redemption price calculated in its indenture.

Atmos Energy is the largest gas-only distributor in the U.S. It delivers energy to more than 3 million distribution customers.
