Guess? profit beats consensus by 70.2% in fiscal Q3

Guess? Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 1 came to 30 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 18 cents per share.

EPS fell 24.0% year over year from 40 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $25.5 million, a decrease of 23.7% from $33.4 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 4.3% from 5.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell year over year to $589.8 million from $613.5 million, and total operating expenses declined on an annual basis to $555.2 million from $562.8 million.

Reported net income fell 39.7% from the prior-year period to $20.4 million, or 24 cents per share, from $33.8 million, or 40 cents per share.
