Report: Ukrainian regulator OKs purchase of AEGON unit by TAS Group shareholder

Ukraine's State Commission for Regulation of Financial Services Markets allowed TAS Group's main shareholder, Serhiy Tihipko, to indirectly acquire a 99.99% stake in Aegon Life Ukraine PJSC, Interfax Ukraine reported Dec. 30.

Earlier in December, the regulator allowed TAS Group unit T.A.S. Overseas Investments Ltd. to acquire a 99.38% stake in the company, the report noted. The acquisition of AEGON NV's Ukrainian unit by TAS Group was announced in September and was approved by the Ukrainian competition watchdog in November.

TAS Group also recently completed the acquisition of Eurobank Ergasias SA's Ukrainian unit, PJSC Universal Bank. Tihipko also controls Ukrainian lender PJSC TAScombank.
