Alphabet stockholders reject 7 shareholder proposals

The stockholders of Google Inc. parent Alphabet Inc. voted against seven shareholder proposals at the company's June 7 annual meeting, including one asking for the implementation of "Holy Land Principles."

The Holy Land proposal related to the company's operations in Palestine/Israel. It asked Alphabet to engage in equal and fair employment practices without national, racial, ethnic or religious discrimination with efforts to increase underrepresented employee groups in the region.

The proposal would also have not required military service as a precondition or qualification for employment for any position and not to accept subsidies, tax incentives or other benefits that could put one national, racial, ethnic or religious group in advantage over another. The proposal asked that the company hire staff to monitor the progress in implementing the Holy Land Principles and also publicly report thereon.

The shareholders also voted no on proposals regarding equal shareholder voting and reports on lobbying, political contributions, gender pay, charitable contributions and "fake news."
