Insurance company Travelers Cos. Inc. is backing San Francisco-based enterprise drone services company Kittyhawk.io Inc. with a strategic investment.
The investment, details of which were not disclosed, will help Kittyhawk bring unified drone operations to new markets, according to an Oct. 3 news release.
"Using drones to assess property damage enables us to enhance our customers' experience, adjust claims more quickly and efficiently and improve safety for our employees and vendors," Nick Seminara, executive vice president of claim services at Travelers, said in a statement. "Kittyhawk helps us manage the vast amounts of information we gather on inspections so we can help our customers recover from disasters faster than ever before."
In June, Kittyhawk.io raised $5 million in a funding round led by Jim Andelman of seed-stage venture capital firm Bonfire Ventures.
Travelers is a provider of property casualty insurance for auto, home and business.
