Cube Hydro affiliate acquiring 215-MW hydro portfolio in North Carolina

affiliate Cube Hydro CarolinasLLC has agreed to purchase and upgrade a 215-MW portfolio of hydroplants on North Carolina's Yadkin River.

The portfoliocomprises the HighRock, Tuckertown, Narrows and Falls facilities sold by subsidiaryAlcoa Power GeneratingInc.

Financialterms of the deal, announced July 11, were not disclosed.

CubeHydro Partners is led by former U.S. Undersecretary of Energy Kristina Johnsonand is in the business of developing and acquiring midsize hydro projects inthe U.S. and Canada. The company owns and operates 14 plants with a totalcapacity of 126 MW in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
