T-Mobile US Inc. set up a 20,000-square-foot facility to test smartphones and other devices that connect to the company's network using any technology available, including 5G.
5G is a next-generation wireless network, which is set to offer download speeds many times faster than the current wireless networks.
The new device lab includes more than a dozen testing areas where T-Mobile engineers test network signal quality; voice call and sound quality; and video optimization, among other services.
Based at T-Mobile's Launch Pad innovation center in Bellevue, Wash., the lab also has a hardware pressure testing room where devices can be tested for durability, the company said Aug. 20.
