Taseko secures all approvals to move forward with Florence copper test facility

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued Taseko Mines Ltd. the final required permit to construct and operate the phase one test facility at its Florence copper project in Arizona, according to a Dec. 21 release.

The underground injection control permit will become effective Jan. 30, 2017, and its issuance means the company has now successfully met all of its regulatory obligations at both the state and federal levels.

Taseko secured the aquifer protection permit from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality earlier this year.

According to the statement, the phase one test facility will serve to optimize the copper recovery process and demonstrate its environmental integrity and reliability.
