First US Bancshares further extends stock buyback

First US Bancshares Inc.'s board extended the Thomasville, Ala.-based company's existing share repurchase program to expire Dec. 31, 2017.

The company may buy back up to 642,785 common shares under the plan, which was originally approved in 2006. A Dec. 21 press release said that to date, the company has repurchased about 400,482 common shares under the program.
