Canada health benefit startup gets insurance broker license

Toronto-based LeagueInc. has secured a license to operate as an insurance broker in Ontario,Reuters reported, citing CEO Mike Serbinis.

Serbinis said the Canadian health benefit startup plans to getsimilar licenses across Canada in the next four to six weeks and make its insuranceoffering available in some U.S. states within three to six months, according thereport.

The news outlet reported that Royal Bank of Canada's RBC Insurance will initially underwriteLeague's life, accidental death, critical illness and other insurance plans. Thestartup will add more underwriters for its offering.
