Va. medical assistance services department to end Medicare-Medicaid Plan program

Virginia's Department of Medical Assistance Services is terminating its Medicare-Medicaid Plan program designed for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits, Anthem HealthKeepers said.

The move, which takes effect Dec. 31, will impact 23,000 people in Virginia. Virginians who currently have health insurance coverage through the plans should choose a new health plan for 2018 before Dec. 31.

Anthem Health Plans of Virginia Inc. trades as Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia.
