The American Gas Association elected Kimberly Harris as the new chair of its board of directors for 2018, the 100th year of the trade organization.
"It is an incredible honor to lead this organization at a time when natural gas is shaping our nation's future and changing the way we think about environmental protection, economic prosperity and national security," Harris said.
Harris is president and CEO of Puget Sound Energy Inc., a utility that provides electricity and natural gas in 10 counties in Washington.
Harris will replace Pierce Norton II, president and CEO of ONE Gas Inc., as board chair Jan. 1, 2018. NiSource Inc. President and CEO Joseph Hamrock will serve as the first vice chair of the board, while CenterPoint Energy Inc. President and CEO Scott Prochazka will become second vice chair.
The American Gas Associaton is a trade organization representing over 200 utilities and energy companies that deliver natural gas in the U.S.
