UkrainianPrime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced his resignation April 10.
"Ihave taken the decision to resign as prime minister of Ukraine. On Tuesday, April12, my request will be submitted to the Parliament," Yatsenyuk said, accordingto a Reuters report on April 10. The announcement came in a televised address andwas reported by numerous Western news sources.
Yatsenyuksaid he has "done everything to ensure stability and make a smooth transitionof power possible," according to a same-day report by Agence France-Presse.He said the party of President Petro Poroshenko has nominated Volodymyr Groysmanto fill his post.
Yatsenyuk'spro-Western party had survived a no-confidence vote in February, but its hold wastenuous and disbursement of funds under an International Monetary Fund aid programhas been delayed, Reuters reported.
