US Steel strikes tentative wage deal with 14,000 unionized steel workers

U.S. Steel Corp. reached a tentative four-year collective agreement with the United Steelworkers, covering approximately 14,000 union-represented workers, across the company's domestic flat-rolled and iron ore mining facilities as well as tubular operations.

The agreement's details will be released after the ratification process is completed, the company said Oct. 15.

Around 16,000 U.S. Steel workers backed a labor action in September, while about 15,000 workers at ArcelorMittal-owned steel facilities across the country also voted to down tools as contract disputes dragged on.

ArcelorMittal and U.S. Steel collectively account for around 25% of steel production in the U.S.
