Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd. appointed Ahmad bin Mohd Don as chairman and independent nonexecutive director, effective Feb. 1.

Ahmad has worked in various capacities with Pernas Securities Sdn. Bhd., Permodalan Nasional Bhd. and Malayan Banking Bhd., according to a Feb. 2 statement.

Currently, he is chairman of the boards of Zurich Takaful Bhd. and Zurich Insurance Malaysia Bhd., among other companies. He also served as governor of Bank Negara Malaysia from May 1994 to August 1998.
