Black Hills plans to acquire AltaGas stake in Colo. wind farm

Black Hills Corp. is seeking approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to acquire a 50% stake in the 29-MW Busch Ranch wind farm in Huerfano, Colo., from AltaGas Ltd.

Under the transaction, Black Hills subsidiary Black Hills Electric Generation LLC will acquire 100% equity interests in AltaGas Renewable Energy Colorado LLC, which owns a 50% stake in the facility. At closing, Black Hills will become 100% owner of Busch Ranch, as it already owns a 50% interest in the facility, according to an Oct. 16 regulatory filing.

The applicants have requested the commission to approve the transaction by Nov. 30. (FERC docket EC19-13)
