MMG Ltd. said Oct. 18 that it achieved record copper cathode production of 20,691 tonnes at its Kinsevere project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the third quarter.
Total copper cathode output increased 4% year on year to 34,839 tonnes.
Copper in concentrate production fell 24% to 87,087 tonnes due to a wall slippage at the Las Bambas project in Peru.
Zinc-in-concentrate output soared to 57,595 tonnes due to the ramp-up of the Dugald River project in Queensland, Australia, ahead of schedule. As a result, the company increased production guidance for 2018 to 140,000 to 150,000 tonnes of zinc in concentrate from the previously guided 120,000 to 140,000 tonnes.
The ramp-up at Dugald River also drove a surge in lead-in-concentrate output to 11,827 tonnes.
