Eurozone unemployment dips to lowest since December 2008

The eurozone's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 8.6% in January from 8.7% in December 2017, the lowest since December 2008, Eurostat said.

A year ago, the rate was 9.6% on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The number of unemployed people in the bloc decreased by 10,000 month over month and by 1.4 million year over year to 14.1 million.

Spain's unemployment rate was 16.3% while Germany and Malta's rates stood at 3.6% and 3.5%, respectively.
