Following a review, the Australiantelco identified a range of steps to reduce the likelihood of another outage.The recommendations included increasing redundancy in nodes, adding more capacityto the core network, introducing new procedures for key network elementrestarts and improving resilience in international connectivity.
Telstra will spend around A$25 million to install real-timetraffic monitoring equipment. The remaining A$25 million will be used toincrease network capacity to handle the large number of re-registrations thatoccur simultaneously after a disruption.
