Zoe's Kitchen, Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Oct. 5 came to 5 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 3 cents per share.
EPS climbed year over year from 1 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $973,750, a gain from $195,000 in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 1.7% from 0.4% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 29.4% year over year to $56.4 million from $43.6 million, and total operating expenses increased 26.8% from the prior-year period to $54.1 million from $42.6 million.
Reported net income came to a loss of $2.3 million, or a loss of 12 cents per share, compared to income of $389,570, or 2 cents per share, in the prior-year period.
