Ajinomoto fiscal Q3 profit climbs 20.7% YOY

Ajinomoto Co. Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, was ¥31.27 per share, a gain of 21.7% from ¥25.69 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥18.35 billion, an increase of 20.7% from ¥15.21 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 5.9% from 5.8% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 18.8% year over year to ¥313.40 billion from ¥263.82 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 17.8% on an annual basis to ¥281.31 billion from ¥238.85 billion.

Reported net income rose 100.9% from the prior-year period to ¥38.36 billion, or ¥65.36 per share, from ¥19.10 billion, or ¥32.26 per share.
