J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said its fourth-quarter normalized net income amounted to $1.05 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.01 per share.
EPS rose year over year from $1.02.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $117.8 million, compared with $117.9 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin fell to 6.8% from 7.3% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 6.2% year over year to $1.72 billion from $1.62 billion, and total operating expenses increased 6.9% year over year to $1.53 billion from $1.43 billion.
Reported net income came to $116.9 million, or $1.04 per share, compared with $116.4 million, or $1.01 per share, in the year-earlier period.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled $3.84 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of $3.78.
EPS rose from $3.70 in the prior year.
Normalized net income was $434.9 million, compared with $431.4 million in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue increased on an annual basis to $6.56 billion from $6.19 billion, and total operating expenses rose year over year to $5.83 billion from $5.47 billion.
The company said reported net income grew year over year to $431.9 million, or $3.81 per share, in the full year, from $427.2 million, or $3.66 per share.
