Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Varadkar expressed optimism in an RTE radio interview about meeting objectives in the Brexit negotiations, Bloomberg News reported.
Varadkar reiterated that Ireland will not allow the negotiations to move on to the next phase without an acceptable offer from the U.K. over the Irish border issue.
The Northern Irish border and the role of the European Court of Justice in relation to the post-Brexit rights of EU citizens in the U.K. are now the only outstanding issues ahead of the Dec. 14 to 15 European Council summit. U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to make Britain's offer on a financial settlement and the remaining hurdles on Dec. 4.
