Discovery Communications Inc. appointed former Viacom Inc. executive Christopher McGrath as its senior vice president for data and analytics.

McGrath, who will report to Chief Technology Officer John Honeycutt, will oversee the company's global data vision, strategy and execution.

McGrath previously served as senior vice president for data strategy and consumer intelligence at Viacom.
