Keyence fiscal Q3 profit falls YOY

Keyence Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 20, 2015, came to ¥6.82 per share, a decline of 97.2% from ¥246.48 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥826.9 million, a decrease of 97.2% from ¥29.89 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 31.2% from 35.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined 96.8% year over year to ¥2.65 billion from ¥84.04 billion, and total operating expenses fell 96.8% from the prior-year period to ¥1.27 billion from ¥39.73 billion.

Reported net income fell 88.3% on an annual basis to ¥3.61 billion, or ¥29.78 per share, from ¥30.80 billion, or ¥253.93 per share.

As of Feb. 2, US$1 was equivalent to ¥120.25.
