SPower adds 2 Calif. solar plants to portfolio

SPower, known legally as Sustainable Power Group LLC, has energized the 50-MW Antelope DSR 1 and the 5-MW Antelope DSR 2 Solar Project solar power plants in Los Angeles County, Calif.

The facilities reached commercial operations by late 2016 and are now supplying 55-MW AC of solar power to Southern California Public Power Authority under a 20-year power contract. SPower currently owns four solar projects that supply 121 MW to SCPPA and its participating members: the cities of Azusa, Colton, Riverside and Vernon.

Comprised of more than 200,000 solar panels, the newly commissioned solar projects can generate enough electricity to power 10,000 homes.
