Petrobras closes sale of Paraguayan fuel distribution businesses for $380M

Petróleo Brasileiro SA - Petrobras said March 8 its subsidiary Petrobras International Braspetro BV has completed the sale of stakes in three firms to Copetrol SA's Paraguay Energy.

Petrobras International Braspetro sold stakes in Petrobras Paraguay Distribución Ltd., Petrobras Paraguay Operaciones y Logística SRL and Petrobras Paraguay Gas SRL for a total of $380.8 million.

The firms, which operate in Paraguay, engage in the distribution and sale of fuels, LPG, lubricants and other special products through 201 service stations, as well as a proprietary storage terminal and operations at three airports.

The transaction also provides for the licensing for the exclusive use of the Petrobras brand by Nextar, which is the successor of Petrobras Paraguay Operaciones y Logistica SRL, in service stations in Paraguay for an initial period of five years.
