Jeffrey Lacker, who resigned from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in 2017 following a leak investigation, is joining Virginia Commonwealth University as an economics professor.

Lacker was president and CEO of the Richmond Fed from 2004 until 2017, when he admitted to discussing confidential information with a private-sector analyst in 2012.

He will be part of the university's business school, where his title will be distinguished professor. Lacker originally joined the Richmond Fed in 1989 as an economist and had previously taught at Purdue University's Krannert School of Management. He also has taught at the College of William & Mary and was a visiting scholar at New York University's Stern School of Business in the most recent academic year.
