Ignyta Inc. added Agios Pharmaceuticals Chief Commercial Officer Steven Hoerter to its board as an independent director.

Hoerter will also be a member of the nominating and corporate governance committee. He previously served as executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Clovis Oncology Inc.

His appointment expands Ignyta's board to six members from five.
