Jagruti Rajput, a senior compliance adviser at Commerzbank AG's London branch, is suing the German lender for discriminating against her during and after her pregnancy, Bloomberg News reported.
Rajput, who is suing the bank in a London employment tribunal, claims that during her maternity leave, she was discouraged from attending meetings and could not send emails as her IT access was disabled. When she returned, Rajput was subject to inappropriate remarks from colleagues, creating a hostile environment, according to her witness statement.
Rajput also said that when she was in the first trimester of pregnancy in December 2015, she was passed over for promotion to head of markets in favor of an external male candidate.
Commerzbank denied the allegations in an emailed statement, saying the bank does not "tolerate workplace discrimination of any sort."
The London Central Tribunal is set to hear the case for a further five days, Bloomberg added.
