Akuo Energy secures financing for 132 MW of wind projects in Poland

France-based renewables developer Akuo Energy completed financing three wind projects in Poland with a combined capacity of 132 MW, the company announced Dec. 12.

The Wielowies, EP 44 and Gniew wind facilities will be Akuo's first projects in Poland. They emerged as winners in a tender the Polish government launched in late 2018.

Financing was secured through an equity partnership with Mirova Eurofideme 4, a fund managed by Mirova (Natixis), and senior debt commercial loans from BNP Paribas Bank Polska, Commerzbank and Poland's mBank.

Vestas Wind Systems A/S will supply 53 turbines for the wind projects, the company said in a separate announcement. The contract also includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines and a 15-year active output management service agreement.

The turbines are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2020. The projects are expected to become operational in 2021.
