Financial services company Rockefeller Capital Management starts operations

Led by former Morgan Stanley wealth management chief Gregory Fleming, Rockefeller Capital Management has officially launched.

The transaction to form Rockefeller Capital Management, which included the acquisition of Rockefeller & Co. Inc., has received all required client consents and satisfied all applicable regulatory conditions. Fleming has assumed the role of president and CEO.

The new company has three businesses: Rockefeller Wealth Management, Rockefeller Asset Management and Rockefeller Strategic Advisory. It is owned by a trust representing the broader Rockefeller family, the management and an investment fund of Viking Global Investors LP.

Ed Moriarty was named CFO and Harry Singh joined as COO. Moriarty previously was head of merchant banking and real estate investing at Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. He is also the head of risk at the new company. Singh was a managing director and member of the management committee for wealth management at Morgan Stanley.

Jonathan Eisenberg was appointed as the general counsel at Rockefeller Capital while also serving as chief of staff to the CEO. He was previously the general counsel for UBS Wealth Management Americas. Jeffrey Shames was tapped as senior strategy adviser. He is a senior lecturer of finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

In addition to the new hires, David Harris will continue as chief investment officer and head of asset management, and Elizabeth Munson as president of the Rockefeller Trust Cos.
