J. Crew looks to relocate HQ to Brookfield Property building in NY

J. Crew Inc. is looking to relocate its headquarters to Bank of New York Mellon Corp.'s 300,000-square-foot space at Brookfield Property Partners LP's Brookfield Place office complex in downtown Manhattan, N.Y., the Commercial Observer reported, citing unidentified sources with knowledge of the matter.

JLL has been tapped to find a new home for the company, which currently occupies over 350,000 square feet at Vornado Realty Trust's Broadway 770 tower in Manhattan. Vornado is planning to buy out tenants in order to boost Facebook Inc.'s presence at the building by an additional 78,000 square feet.

BNY Mellon is moving out of its space at the 225 Liberty St. office tower only a few years into a 20-year lease. The new tenant would enter into a sublease for the space.

A spokeswoman for J. Crew did not confirm the move, while the publication could not retrieve a comment from Brookfield or JLL regarding the matter.
