Whirlpool Corp. on May 31 filed a safeguard petition with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and LG Electronics Inc.

The household appliances maker said the filing follows antidumping cases filed against Samsung and LG in which the U.S. Government determined that the companies injured American washer manufacturers by selling imported washing machines in the country at dumped prices.
