TVA establishes wholesale fixed electric rate

The Tennessee Valley Authority board approved May 10 the establishment of a wholesale fixed electric rate equal to 6% of the wholesale rate.

The new rate will be the equivalent of about 0.5 cents per kWh, TVA said in a news release. The variable portion of the wholesale rate will be reduced by the same percentage, or 0.5 cent per kWh, making the change revenue-neutral, according to TVA.

Customers' electric bills may vary from region to region as local power companies incorporate this change into their own rate structures beginning Oct. 1.
