Basin Electric Power Cooperative seeks capacity proposals

Basin Electric Power Cooperative issued three separate requests for proposals for capacity.

The co-op is seeking proposals for firm capacity with callable day-ahead energy to be delivered to North Western Montana balancing area or the Western Area Power Administration's Upper Great Plains West balancing area in 25-MW blocks starting in 2021.

Basin Electric is also interested in proposals from existing resources for capacity to be delivered to local resource zone 1 in Midcontinent ISO in 25-MW blocks or more, starting with MISO planning year 2023 and beyond.

Additionally, the company is soliciting proposals from existing resources capacity or capacity and limited energy in 25-MW blocks to be delivered to SPP Upper Missouri Zone or the Nebraska Public Power District Zone for 2021 and beyond.

Interested bidders must email Basin Electric at RFP@bepc.com of their intent to submit a proposal. Bids are due by 5 p.m. CT on Feb. 23.

The co-op will notify shortlisted bidders March 16, and it expects to make a decision by the summer.
