Alliance Resource awarded 6 million-ton coal contract in Kentucky

, aPPL Corp. subsidiary,has awarded a 6 million-ton coal supply contract to ,according to documents recently provided to the Kentucky Public ServiceCommission.

Alliancewill provide the coal from Jan. 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2019. The coal is beingsourced from the River View mine in Union County, Ky.

Thecoal is spec'd at a minimum 11,500 Btu/lb., maximum 7.25 lbs./MMBtu ash and amaximum 11.50% moisture. The coal is to be loaded at the River View docklocated at milepost 843 on the Ohio River.

Thecoal is priced at $41.00/ton f.o.b. barge in 2017, $42.50/ton f.o.b. barge in2018 and $44.50 per ton in 2019, all subject to certain quality adjustments.The coal is to be delivered at a rate of 2.0 million tons per year.

Alliance President and CEO Joseph Craft recently saidAlliance has seen some favor in obtaining contracts from utilities as othercoal companies have headedinto bankruptcy.
