Real Goods Solar Inc.'s founder, John Schaeffer, retired from the board of directors of the company on March 9.
According to a March 12 filing, Schaeffer's retirement is due to personal reasons and not because of any disagreement with the company. He founded the company in 1978.
The company also disclosed that on Oct. 12, 2017, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority inquired about trading activity in Real Goods Solar's class A common stock around the time of the company's announcement of a license agreement for its POWERHOUSE solar shingle system on Oct. 4, 2017. In February 2018, FINRA informed the company that the issue has been referred to the U.S. SEC. Schaeffer also informed the company that he is in contact with the SEC in connection with the matter.
Real Goods Solar clarified that it has no information on the nature or scope of the SEC's involvement in the issue and said it has no reason to believe the company is implicated in the matter.
