French President Emmanuel Macron on Oct. 16 appointed a new interior minister in a widely expected cabinet reshuffle.
Christophe Castaner will head the interior ministry, replacing Gérard Collomb, who resigned Oct. 2. Castaner is the leader of the ruling La République En Marche! party.
Macron also made a number of other appointments, including Didier Guillaume as agriculture minister, replacing Stéphane Travert, and Franck Riester as culture minister, replacing Françoise Nyssen. Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire kept his post.
