RNC looks to double Beta Hunt mine's nickel output in 2018

RNC Minerals said Nov. 27 that it plans to double 2018 nickel production from its Beta Hunt gold-nickel mine in Western Australia to 4 million pounds of contained nickel from output levels this year.

The company anticipates significant additional cash flow in 2018 as the C1 nickel cash cost is estimated to be lower than US$2.50 per pound with the ongoing ramp-up of gold production at Beta Hunt.

Beta Hunt's increased output comes amid the company's expectations that enough mine development will be completed by early 2018 to allow mining access to nickel resources in the 1820 to 1825 Beta area of the mine.

RNC added that it resumed financing and off-take talks with potential partners over the Dumont nickel project in Quebec. The company said it was recently approached by a number of potential financiers and off-take partners for Dumont, which could start delivering nickel and cobalt to the market before the end of 2020.
